Entry Requirements

• Design a modern abode hub
• Building no larger than: 10m x 10m, or 100 sq meters
• Less then 100 sq. meters in surrounding landscape space
• Mathematically natural, in organic form (i.e. snow flakes)
• Utilizing sustainable technologies

Requirements for structure: The structure should have a basement, ground floor and roof viewing area. Additional floors are acceptable. The number of inhabitants for the the abode hub should be 2-5, with outside seating. Locally produced, natural resources for building materials is important, but this is not required. Must be economical and use local labor. Technological improvements can be from outside of Australia.

The modern abode hub: Attention to leading architecture, technology, ecology and health is paramount. The space will be used primarily for living.

Landscape: The outside landscape of the site of the modern abode hub, should integrate well with the design. It is up to the architect to decide how to use this space.

    “10 X 10 sq meters” This is a very odd way of communication the size of a building. 10 X 10 sq meters… please fix to: 10m X 10m, or 100 sq meters… 10 X 10 sq meters almost insinuates a volumetric rating.

Would sloped landscape berms, or patio/decks/balconies need to be included in that 10m x 10m requirement or is the 10m x 10m calculated by interior building footprint?

    • admin

Would be good if berms, patios, would be included in the 10m x 10m, but this is not a requirement.

    • ionth

That would need to be included in the interior building footprint.

I want to know the purpose of the basement

    • admin

    • Less then 100 sq. meters in surrounding landscape space

    Does it include building area?
    or building 100sq + surrounding landscape 100sq = max 200sq ?

    • admin

This does not include the building area.

    • ionth

This does not include the building area.

      • Yoo

is 100sq = total floor area?

        or just boundary?
        like, B1f ; 100sq / 1f; 50sq / 2f; 60sq
        in 10×10 or 5×20 (m)

        • ionth

          This is just boundary.

  • Where exactly to register for the Entry?
And total site area is 200 Sq. M right, where permissible built of up area is 100 Sq. M. right?
    Thanks

    • admin

hello! 🙂 what exactly IS an abode hub?? i am not a native english speaker and it seems impossible to find a proper explanation of the term! thanks in advance 🙂

    • ionth

Hi, an abode hub is up to you what it is, but could be deemed as being an architectural hub for other constructions.

      • renoir

so an abode hub it is both a “residense” AND some (sort of) a “meeting point” ? that means that besides the 2-5 people the hub has to accommodate,it should also be open/accessible to a larger community?

        • ionth

          Yes, this could be.

  • Alberto

Could we use 100 sq meters on the ground floor, and use a second floor with other 100 sq meters (e.g.100+100)?
Or total used floor should be 100sq meters without taking into account the number of plants? Thanks

    • ionth

You can use 100 sq meters for the ground floor and 100 sq meters for the second floor.

  • cao

i want to know : What are you need space in the modern abode hub? ( example: kitchen or bedroom…) Because, i am not a native english speaker and it seems impossible to find a proper explanation of the term.

    • ionth

This is up to the architect.

  • lou

Hi! Since there is no specific location for the hub, i would like you to let me know whether or not it should be placed on a flat terrain?

    • ionth

This can be, but it does not have to be on flat terrain.

Congratulations to participants of the 2016.
